CPA Licensing Requirements in Florida

For Candidates in Florida that have Passed the Uniform CPA Exam

Experience Requirement

One year relevant full-time experience in either public or private accounting is required and must be properly verified by a licensed CPA.

Florida does not accept part-time work experience even though it does accept appropriate volunteer work if supervised and verified by a licensed CPA.

Licensing Fee Requirement

Licenses must be renewed every two years on a January 1-December 31 schedule.

  • License renewal     $105.00
  • Late renewal (after Dec.31). $155.00

Continuing Professional Education Requirement

Licensed CPAs in Florida are required to take 80 hours of Continuing Professional Education (CPE) every two years including 20 hours of accounting and auditing courses and four hours of BOA-approved ethics courses.

Verification of CPE hours should accompany the license renewal application and fee.
