For Candidates in Nevada that have not Taken the Uniform CPA Exam
The Nevada State Board of Accountancy is composed of seven members appointed by the Governor to regulate the public accountancy profession. All certified public accountants interested in working in Nevada must obtain a professional certificate from the Board prior to representing clients.
The State Board of Accountancy receives and processes all applications for the Uniform CPA Exam in Nevada. Applicants must meet education and fee requirements to become eligible for examination.
Education Requirement
All CPA Exam applicants in Nevada must complete a four-year degree that includes at least 150 semester hours of education. This education must consist of:
- 30 semester hours in accounting coursework from intermediate or upper-division level classes. Accounting coursework must include:
- 12 semester hours in accounting electives
- 9 semester hours in financial accounting
- 3 semester hours in federal income tax
- 3 semester hours in cost accounting
- 3 semester hours in auditing
- 3 semester hours in business law coursework
- 24 semester hours in general business coursework (unrelated to accounting) from undergraduate or graduate level classes. General business coursework should cover topics in:
- Quantitative applications in business
- Behavior of organizations
- Legal and social environment
- Management
- Ethics in business
- Business finance
- Communication
- Marketing
- Economics
- Oral communication
- Business law
- Statistics
- Computers
- Data processing
Examination Fee Requirement
The initial application fee for examination in Nevada is $100. The fee schedule for examination sections are as follows:
- Auditing and Attestation—$192.03
- Business Environment and Concepts–$172.51
- Financial Accounting and Reporting–$192.03
- Regulation–$172.51
