CPA Licensing Requirements in Oregon


For Candidates in Oregon who have Passed the Uniform CPA Exam

All applicants applying for a CPA certificate from the Oregon Board of Accountancy must meet certain experience and ethics requirements to become eligible.

Experience Requirement

Applicants must have at least twelve months of work experience to qualify for licensure in Oregon. This experience must be earned under the direct supervision of a qualified licensee.

Applicants that work at least 20 hours per week can qualify for part-time experience.

Ethics Requirement

Applicants must successfully pass the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA) ethics course to qualify for licensure in Oregon.

Certificate Fee Requirement

All applicants must pay a $150 fee upon submitting an “Application for Issuance of CPA Certificate” form to the Oregon Board of Accountancy.

Continuing Professional Education Requirements

The Oregon Board of Accountancy holds a biennial renewal period for CPA licenses issued in the state. During this period, CPAs are required to complete at least 80 hours of continuing professional education (CPE) to qualify for renewal. These CPE hours must include:

  • The completion of at least 24 CPE hours in any given year
  • The completion of at least four CPE hours in professional conduct and ethics
